If you ask why Goa is famous, the food scene will only come second to the beautiful beaches here. You will find a variety of ingredients, including red chilies, coconut, kokum, coconut vinegar (Toddy), churros, tamarinds, and cashews, in the cuisine here. However, to begin with, I will give you a brief idea about Goanese food and food tourism in the state, and will then move on to the lists.
The dishes we ordered at Petisco were pan-fried mackerel, beurre blanc, breadfruit fritters with their signature tomato kasundi, and flame-grilled chicken. These experiences focus on the rich culinary heritage of Goa, along with the biodiversity trails and inclusive cruising. Some of the best-selling dishes are Goan prawn curry, recheado masala fish, and the good 'ol bebinca.

Its unique preparation and the combination of sweet and earthy flavors make it a cherished dessert in Goan cuisine, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. The use of local spices and fresh ingredients makes Goan Fish Curry a must-try for anyone looking to experience the authentic flavours of Goa’s coastal cuisine. Panjim’s diverse food offerings will delight your taste buds and provide an unforgettable culinary experience. Besides the seafood thali, dishes like Chicken Kokni Sukha and Mushroom Rawa Fry are also worth a try. Known for its legendary fish thali, this restaurant is a perfect place to enjoy some amazing food in a eatery with cozy ambience.
Goa’s most popular neighbourhood for tourists, Fontainhas is home to a leafy enclosed cafe that doubles up as a community space. Jaffna Jump is a tribute to the place Lisa once called home, featuring food that is homely, yet rich in flavour and history. Lisa Sadanah began her food journey in Goa during the pandemic with Bentota Box. In addition to its own vermouth, the bar makes amari, apricot, and fig liqueurs and limoncello. Isabella’s is a reflection of Arati’s passion for Portuguese and Spanish food.

It serves vegetarian food, and Sachin had also had a curry of black-eyed peas and a potato bhaji here. However, it serves excellent seafood, and we wanted to try the squid kismoor salad and roasted shrimps and crabs there. Along with those five brilliant restaurants, some quaint and more affordable places have also won our hearts. Our food scene at Fisherman’s Wharf started with tempura-fried prawns, and then we gorged on their seafood bucket. A post shared by The Fisherman's Wharf Panjim (@thefishermanswharfpanjim) We also tried the seafood platter, and the butter prawns in the platter were our instant favorite.

Kokni Kanteen is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Goan seafood. Panjim, the charming capital of Goa, is a delightful blend of rich history and vibrant culture, making it a must-visit destination for food lovers. From traditional Goan thalis to modern fusion fare, the city’s dining spots reflect its rich Portuguese heritage, tropical spirit, and love for good food.
Panjim’s vibrant culinary culture ensures a memorable food experience for all visitors. The Panjim Restaurants menu is seafood heavy using fresh local fish; in addition, there’s Goan rice used in the paella too. It may be a multi-cuisine restaurant but Ritz Classic is known for its seafood and fish. In recent years, Goa’s rise as a culinary hotspot has led to an explosion of new openings offering global cuisines, experimental styles, and showcasing the region’s seafood. Tucked by the lanes of St.Inez lies this small restaurant that offers true local Goan Fish preparations with the lunch thali topping off their list.
